Silverstone Lap Of Lights – December 2025
Silverstone Lap Of Lights – December 2025
This week I was lucky to be able to partake in the preview event for the 2025 edition of Lap of Lights at Silverstone F1 circuit in Northamptonshire. The Silverstone circuit has been transformed into a winter wonderland for the annual event.
The circuit has been turned into a two mile light trail which you get to drive in your own car. Meaning you can legitimately say you have driven the world famous F1 circuit.
Ten breathtaking light setups transform the night, with every scene immersing you in festive colour, sound, and energy. These setups incorporate 7,000 LED panels and 35 laser shows.

After going through the ticket check at the entrance we were then directed towards the track. The ticket says to arrive 30 minutes before your allocated on track time for good reason. Although we sailed through the ticket check, we were queuing to then get on the track, whilst Silverstone staff came past trying to sell Christmas lights and festive looking light sabres. We then queued again for the start line, with no real explanation why we were stopped.
At all times on the track you are limited to 5mph with a sensible restriction of no overtaking in place. To ensure that speed is maintained throughout, pace cars are inserted at regular intervals at the start lineinto the procession around the track. So if your a fan of black Teslas then this is the place for you!
I won’t spoil the surprise of the attraction for those that are going and want to enjoy the surprise at each turn. However if you want to know what the event looks like, take a look at the video montage I have put together below.
Food and Drink
After you have finished your tour of the track which takes about half an hour, you will be invited to park in the paddock and visit the food stalls, ice rink, and Santa’s Garage. Yes, park in the paddock! Made possible by the fact that the Food and Drink stalls are in the International Pit Lane. The Ice Rink, Lego Santa’s Garage, Merchandise Shops, and seating are in the garages on the pit lane, along with a video area to keep kids entertained and 3 F1 cars from the 2025 season.
Food and Drink prices varied from the reasonable, to the adventurous. Alcoholic drinks from the bar were available at London prices, which is no surprise or disgrace given the setting. However £3.20 for a can of soft drink… that seemed very much OTT.
We didn’t visit the Lego Santa’s Garage. This was a pre booked only event, targeted at families with young kids. As such it was not to be for 2 40 something year olds with no children.
The Ice Rink looked to be good. It was a proper rink with ice that was being maintained, rather than just a glorified plastic sheet. Certainly it was proving popular with a queue of people waiting for a go.
Also in the pit lane was a F1 memorabilia stall for the enthusiasts visiting the event. Talking of the F1 aficionados, it did seem strange that both the main shop for the track, as well as the Castore Megastore were both closed while we were there for the event.
Overall opinion?
Overall we very much enjoyed ourselves. I do believe the event would have benefitted from more lights on the track. There were certain sections of the track that were lacking in light shows. An additional 2 or 3 displays would have been better in our eyes.
